Using the Big Box Evaluator

The easiest way to start using the analyzer is to go step-by-step through the screens. Read the informational text in the blue boxes, then make any choices you’d like in the Analysis areas. There are three kinds of choices:

numbers Assumptions set numeric inputs that will be used by the model to calculate impacts

heart Value settings help you quantify your own subjective feelings about issues

check box Action items let you keep a list of things you’d like to ask the store developer to do

When you’ve finished reading and/or setting choices on a screen, click the "NEXT" button at the bottom-right of the page to move to the next step.

To go back to a previous screen, you can use the "BACK" button.

To SKIP to a different section, you can click the navigational links to the left of this window.

Any choices you make will be preserved within this analysis, and if you have yet to visit a screen, its default choices will be used. However, once you leave the Big Box Evaluator, your choices will be lost.

Usually it takes about 20 minutes to go through all the screens, but you can take as much or as little time as you want. Your answers are used only within the tool and there is no record of what you choose. You can also go back and change answers later if you want. This is not a test; it’s a tool for helping you learn and explore the results of different choices.
